July 9, 2007 Dear Helen Ball Parents: It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to a new school year! I am very excited to start the school year and to serve your child’s educational and social needs. I am also looking forward to working with each parent so that we are a strong team and our students can achieve success while having fun and enjoying their educational experience. There are many exciting events and activities planned for this new school year. This year, Helen Ball will be one of two Habits of Mind Schools in the Socorro Independent School District. I anticipate an exciting year of learning and I look forward to seeing your child on July 19, 2007, the first day of school. First School bell rings at 7:35, second bell at 7:40 and tardy bell at 7:45 a.m. Parents are welcome to accompany their child to the classroom only on the first day of school. After the first day, for safety purposes students will line up in the courtyard and the cafeteria until the bell rings. Teachers will escort all classes to the classroom at that time. Teachers will provide specific information to you on the first day of school. We will host an open house within the first two weeks of school. That evening you will receive a parent handbook with important information highlighting our school policies and procedures. Until then, this letter should serve as a review of important information. School supplies will be located on a table in the front foyer of the school for your convenience starting July 9, 2007. They will also be available on the district website at: www.sisd.net. Class lists will be posted on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. The Helen Ball Family is here to serve our students and all decisions that are made will always be based on what is best for them.
